Who I Am
My name is Nathan Payne. I live in Sydney and I’m the founder of Payne Capital.
For more than 15 years I’ve owned and operated service businesses, which has shaped how I now buy and oversee established private companies.
What Payne Capital Does
Payne Capital quietly acquires interests in established, private Australian businesses.
- We focus on businesses that:
- Are simple and understandable
- Usually serve everyday demand
- Earn at least $1m of annual operating profit after a professional management team and ongoing capital expenditure
- Have a track record through varying conditions
Where debt is used, it sits at the company level. Investors are not asked for personal guarantees.
Who We Work With
From time to time, we partner with a small number of professionals who want long-term, passive exposure to established private businesses without taking on an operational role.
Partners participate as passive shareholders. Payne Capital is responsible for sourcing businesses, structuring acquisitions and providing ongoing oversight once we invest.
